It’s been just over a year in the making, but the sleek new 16-story mixed-use tower at 555 Bryant Street in SoMa has almost fully taken shape.

With Swinerton as the general contractor and Strada Investment Group funding the project, the PLA-built, high-density residential development has kept San Francisco’s building and construction trades workers busy since last summer as it edges closer to its grand opening.

It can’t happen soon enough. The tower is set to provide a much-needed 500 new units to the City’s starved housing market — not to mention convenient access to the 4th and King Caltrain Station, Oracle Park, and other fun amenities nearby.

When we visited the 555 Bryant jobsite on the morning of Wednesday, August 15, we crossed paths with electricians, glaziers, plumbers, and, perhaps most excitingly, those elusive roofers and waterproofers, whom we don’t encounter nearly enough owing to the fact that their work occurs way up on top of the least accessible part of the building.

The view from up there was great, incidentally. Take a look at the photos and see for yourself.
