It’s a scenic job, and somebody’s got to do it. So, leave it to the glaziers of Local 718. Who else?
The Bay Area building trades’ resident window-installing masters have recently been busy applying their expertise to the finishing-up of Isle House. That’s the first market-rate residential tower to rise on Treasure Island as redevelopment chugs along atop the former naval station. The Local 718 crew at Isle House is working with CEOWD, the project’s glazing contractor.
According to literature from David Baker Architects, which designed the 220-foot-tall, 22-story Isle House, the tower’s folded facade helps to maximize views of the San Francisco skyline and both the Bay and Golden Gate bridges. Our visit with the glaziers at the Isle House jobsite on Thursday, November 9, made it abundantly clear that the architect wasn’t exaggerating — the views are indeed maximal.
We found the Local 718 crew taking care of business throughout the tower’s various floors and rooftops, where they cut an impressive figure against the backdrop of the City and Yerba Buena Island while caulking, putting down metal, waterproofing, installing panels, and, of course, putting in windows.
We were impressed with not just the stunning vistas but also the crew’s hard work, and we think you ought to see the photos. Enjoy the view!
